TESOL Students
I cannot log into my email, Moodle, Pride Page, etc.?

Please send a detailed description of the problem you are experiencing to techsupport@greensboro.edu. Our IT team will be in touch shortly to help you resolve the problem.

When does the next semester start and end?

Check the registrar’s page here. TESOL follows the STANDARD academic calendar.

How do I register for classes? What should I take?

Michelle Plaisance and Elena King are your academic advisors and will send detailed information before each registration period. You should submit your course requests (via the form provided in our email) as soon as possible. The program roadmaps (MA TESOL, MA Bilingual Education, Graduate Certificates, MAT) should guide your selection; we will alert you if your choices need adjustment or if a course is unavailable. You will receive confirmation of registration about a week after submitting your requests.

How can I get proof that I am enrolled in a graduate program?

Contact the registrar’s office here.

How do I pay for my classes?

Our student accounts team will be in touch with you to describe payment options in the week prior to classes commencing. There is no need to do anything before you hear from them. If you have specific questions or concerns, please contact stuaccts@greensboro.edu.

I am sick or have a family emergency. What should I do?

If you need to suspend or postpone your studies, please notify your professors, and complete the request for exception to academic policy found here. You must do this as soon as possible to minimize financial penalties.

How many people can I bring to graduation? When is graduation? Is rehearsal mandatory? And all other graduation information!!

You can read about graduation here. If you have specific questions, please contact registrar@greensboro.edu.

I just moved, what should I do?

Contact the registrar’s office with an update.

My district is asking Greensboro College to complete a form verifying my completion of a state-approved teacher education program. Who can sign it?

If you completed the MA in TESOL or the MA in Bilingual Education, no one can sign the document because the MAs are not teacher licensure programs. It is highly probable that your coursework with us will assist you with licensure through an alternative pathway. If you are licensed from your home country, NC DPI should be able to use your home country’s licensure program for validation. If you will receive additional payment for earning a master’s degree, fill out the Form G Request for Authorization of Graduate Salary found here. If you have additional questions, you can contact Dr. King here.

  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, Greensboro College class of 2019

“I loved the GC Honors program and Greensboro College. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.”

- Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, Class of ’19, Mathematics Major

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
