How to Cover Your Tuition Balance
File a FAFSA
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will maximize your chance to receive additional grants and scholarships. You will also automatically qualify for low-interest federal student loans.
Monthly Payment Plan
Our office works with ECSI, a tuition-payment plan agency, to provide payment plans to our students. If you are pursuing your first bachelor’s degree and are under the age of 23, you are considered a Traditional Undergraduate Student. There are monthly payment plans available to Traditional Undergraduate Students that divide your yearly balance into equal monthly payments. These payment plans have a limited enrollment period and an initial $80 setup fee.
Payment Plans for Traditional Undergraduates in the 2022-2023 Academic Year
|Plan||Application Range||First Payment|
|10 month||6/2 to 6/30||7/1/2022|
|9 month||7/1 to 7/31||8/1/2022|
If you have any questions regarding the payment plans available, feel free to contact us by e-mail or by phone at 336-272-7102, ext. 5205. You can also call ECSI directly at 1-866-927-1438.
Federal Direct PLUS Loan for Parents
Your parent may be interested in borrowing from the Federal Direct PLUS Loan for Parents program. Unlike private loans, the PLUS Loan does have an origination fee. If your parent is approved, your parent may use the loan to cover the remaining balance. As the borrower, your parent will be responsible for repaying the loan. If your parent is not approved, you may be eligible to borrow additional Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan funds.
For additional information about the PLUS Loan, or to apply, visit StudentAid.gov. The applying parent will need to sign in using his or her FSA ID and password.
If you need help completing the application, please refer to our Guide to the Parent PLUS Loan. You can find step-by-step instructions that will walk you through the application starting on page 3.
Private Student Loan or Private Parent Loan
Private loans can help students who need additional funds to pay their balance. In most cases, the student will need a creditworthy co-signer. Many of our students use Citizens One, College Foundation (NC Assist Loan), PNC, Sallie Mae, or Wells Fargo. All terms and conditions are set by the bank or lending institution, and you can find applications for these loans online. If you are unsure about which lender is right for you, our office offers a loan comparison tool to help you compare lenders.
If your parent has signed up for Florida Prepaid, you can use the plan to help cover part of your remaining balance. Your parent or guardian will need to contact Florida Prepaid and notify them that you will be attending. You or your parent or guardian will also need to contact the Student Accounts Office to inform them that they will be using Florida Prepaid to help pay for your tuition.
Private College 529 Plan
If your parent has opened an account for a Private College 529 Plan, you can use the plan to help cover part of your remaining balance. Your parent will need to contact Private College 529 and notify them that you will be attending Greensboro College. You or your parent will also need to contact the Student Accounts Office to inform them that they will be using a Private College 529 Plan to help pay for your tuition. If you have any questions, you can call Private College 529 at 888-718-7878.
