Collection: Academic Programs

  • Public Health Major

    Public Health focuses on understanding epidemiology, preventing disease, promoting human health, and preparing for crisis response. This major prepares students for career paths related to Healthcare Administration, Health Education, Health and Safety Engineering, as well as master degree programs in Public Health or Epidemiology.


  • Psychology Major

    Students gain an in-depth perspective on psychological theory, research, mental health, and clinical treatments. Students customize the curriculum by focusing on one of two concentrations: General Psychology or Human Factors.


  • Human Development and Family Science (interdisciplinary) Major

    Offered through collaboration between the departments of Education, Psychology, and Sociology, this major explores the many factors that shape an individual’s socioemotional development, and prepares students to give families and children their voices in the community to fulfill their dreams and goals.


  • Special Education (General and Adapted) Major

    Students focusing on educating and caring for children of all ages with special needs.   • Middle Grades Mathematics Education Major

    Students interested and committed to teaching science can earn a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education.


  • Middle Grades Language Arts Education Major

    Students interested and committed to teaching language arts can earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary education.


  • Elementary Education Major

    Students focus on educating and caring for children from kindergarten through sixth grade.


  • Birth Through Kindergarten Education Major

    Students focus on educating and caring for children from birth through kindergarten.


  • Biology-Allied Health in Radiologic Technology Major

    This major trains students for a career in radiologic technology (RT), the profession that generates biological images using X-rays and other ionizing radiation. Since this is a combined degree, students must complete a liberal-arts curriculum at Greensboro College and an RT clinical training program elsewhere.


  • Biology Major

    The biology major is designed for students interested in life science careers, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, biological research, field biology, life science education, scientific writing, sales and marketing (of pharmaceuticals, laboratory equipment, etc.), and more. Students majoring in biology will select one of three concentrations: Biomedical Sciences, Wildlife Conservation, or Integrative Biology.

That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.”

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
