Collection: Academic Programs

  • Religion Major

    Students have the opportunity for faith formation and to build a solid foundation for a life in ministry, even if that ministry takes place outside of the context of the church.


  • History Education Major

    Students learn the best practices of being a history teacher and may pursue a teaching licensure in history, which is a state certification required by most K-12 schools.


  • History-Religion Major

    Students focus primarily on history regarding religious contexts.


  • History-Political Science Major

    This major best suits students with career dreams of becoming a lawyer, pursuing government work or studying public policy at the graduate level.


  • History Major

    Students engage with a wide breadth of historical contexts and critically analyze their learnings to understand how and why the world operates as it does today.


  • English Minor

    Students gain a foundational understanding of English literature and theory. Minors require 20 credits to complete.


  • Games & Interactive Media Minor

    Students complete the games and interactive media minor by taking 20 credit hours of coursework that spans ECM and many other disciplines.


  • Sports Communication Minor

    A sports communication minor can be completed with 20 credit hours in selected media production, communication, English, and kinesiology courses.


  • Communication Minor

    Students gain a basic understanding of communication theories and practices. A minor sharpens critical thinking skills and provides fundamental tools in verbal and nonverbal communication that everyone needs in their everyday lives. Minors require 20 credits to complete.


  • Creative Writing Minor

    Students develop their creativity through foundational writing coursework. In addition to becoming more innovative thinkers, creative writing minors develop more empathy and compassion for others through their writing and storytelling, which ultimately helps them gain a better understanding of the world.

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
