Greensboro College Offers College Essay Boot Camp Aug. 5-8

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College will offer a four-day program to teach rising high-school seniors how to write better college-entrance essays.

The College Essay Boot Camp will be held 9 a.m.-12 noon Monday-Thursday, Aug. 5-8. Cost is $249.

The program, limited to rising seniors ages 17-18, is designed to give participants a jump-start on the college essay-writing process. Lectures and discussion will focus on how to write a successful college essay.

Students will focus on actual prompts and draft essays for college applications.  Throughout the week, students will spend blocks of time writing and revising their essays in a workshop setting.

Students will:

  • Learn the role the essay plays in the college admissions process as well as how to leverage the college essay to complement their applications.
  • Develop an understanding of how to write an effective college essay and apply those techniques to craft their own essays.
  • Build the skills needed to respond to a variety of prompts that may be included on the college application.
  • Enjoy having focused time to write and revise their essays, so they can get a head start on the application process.
