Department of Religion,
Ethics & Philosophy

We stand at the intersectional heart of our mission as both a college of the church and as a liberal-arts institution.

The Department of Religion, Ethics & Philosophy provides students with the tools to establish their basic perspectives on life, as well as the moral compass to navigate it. Through a rigorous curriculum, students gain a deeper understanding of the world around them and learn in an environment that nurtures faith, respects difference, and encourages growth. By encountering the great thinkers and doers of history, our Religion, Ethics and Philosophy students develop unmatched problem-solving and communication skills, which are essential for any job down the road, including a possible life of ministry.

Majors and Minors

  • Religion Major

Students have the opportunity for faith formation and to build a solid foundation for a life in ministry, even if that ministry takes place outside of the context of the church.

“I loved the GC Honors program and Greensboro College. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.”
