Welcome Week

Welcome Week is the follow-up to your virtual PAWS experience. Built on tradition, designed to educate, and highlighted with fun events and social activities, Welcome Week is a combination of optional and mandatory events for all incoming traditional students.  Students will receive a full schedule of events at check-in.

Greensboro College Check-In

All traditional students are required to attend check-in.  This is where you receive your Pride Card (student ID card), parking pass, and keys to your residence hall.  Be sure to read the How to Prepare section below to make your check-in process as smooth as possible!

Fall Student Athlete Check-in: TBA
New Traditional Student Check-in: Saturday, August 15, 2020 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Returning Traditional Student Check-in: Tuesday, August 18, 2020 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

All College Check-ins will be held in the lobby of Odell Building.

Additional Required Events

All incoming traditional students are required to attend the following events during Welcome Week.

PAWS Orientation
Sunday, August 16 & Monday, August 17 
All traditional incoming students will be required to attend an in-person PAWS orientation program.  This will compliment the online PAWS orientation offered throughout the summer.  Students will receive a full schedule at check-in on Saturday, August 15.

Pride R.O.A.R. Sexual Misconduct Training
Tuesday, August 18 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Hannah Brown Finch Memorial Chapel
This is a mandatory student training focused on Greensboro College policies related to sexual assault and bystander intervention.

Fall Convocation
Thursday, August 20 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Gail Brower Huggins Performance Center, Odell Building
A long-standing tradition at Greensboro College where incoming students are formally recognized and welcomed as the newest members of our academic community.
Convocation is a formal event.  Please dress appropriately!

How to Prepare

complete the following items prior to check-in

  • From your Empower Pride Page:
    • Complete any necessary forms under “Steps to Enroll” including GC Alert
    • Check the Financial Aid section to ensure you’ve turned in all required documents
    • Complete the Parking Form if you plan to bring a car to campus
    • Complete the Not Anymore training found under the Sexual Misconduct Prevention section
  • Create your Magnus Health account and complete all required items (contact Lauren Childrey at lauren.childrey@greensboro.edu with questions)
  • Discuss payment options with Student Accounts (stuaccts@greensboro.edu) so you have a plan in place to pay your fall tuition
