Greensboro College Offers a Workshop on Universal Design for Learning in Higher Education Beginning June 10
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College will offer a three-day workshop on the basics of Universal Design for Learning in higher education beginning Monday, June 10.
The workshop, which continues Wednesday, June 12, and Thursday, June 13, is for those who want to understand Universal Design for Learning at a basic level and be empowered to take this information back to your institutions to disseminate this new pedagogy and see increases in student success. This course addresses such questions as:
- Why is UDL important in our 21st century education systems?
- How do we use best practices when teaching our neurodiverse 21st-century college students in the classroom?
- How can we implement this pedagogy school-wide?
This workshop is 10 hours of contact hours and provides a Certificate of Completion from Greensboro College and the Center for Applied Science & Technology (CAST).
Learn from an experienced educator, Georgie Bogdan, M.A. Bogdan is Greensboro College’s Director of Academic Accessibility, a faculty member, and a presenter of UDL certified by CAST.
Bogdan has more than 35 years of accessibility work and teaching experience at UNC Greensboro, Wake Forest University, Guilford College and Greensboro College.
This workshop is designed for faculty, staff and administrators in higher education who want to:
- learn the neuroscience behind teaching to diverse learners with and without disabilities.
- learn the basics of Universal Design for Learning to support teaching to our nuerodiverse 21st-century students.
- be enlightened about the befits of implementing UDL in the classroom and beyond.
- increase admission and retention at your institution by implementing UDL across the campus.
