Greensboro College Chapter of Academic Honor Society Inducts Nine New Members

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College’s chapter of the national cross-disciplinary honor society Alpha Chi has inducted nine new members. They are:

  • Tesla Chapman, a senior music major from Randleman, N.C.
  • Hannah Clayton, a junior athletic training major from Fuquay-Varina, N.C.
  • Timothy Crowell, a junior psychology and English & Communication Studies major from Pinnacle, N.C.
  • Kelvina Dei-Tumi, a senior accounting major from Accra, Ghana
  • Jessica Edwards, a senior biology major from Winston-Salem, N.C.
  • Adelaide Elliott, a junior history and English & Communication Studies major from Walnut Cove, N.C.
  • Joshua Fitzgerald, a junior mathematics major from Elon, N.C.
  • Allison Killette, a senior special education major from Whitsett, N.C.
  • Gwyneth Navey, a junior history/political science major from Florence, S.C.

Alpha Chi, founded in 1922, is open to seniors who rank in the top 10 percent of their class and juniors who rank in the top 5 percent of their class.

Greensboro College’s Alpha Chi chapter, designated North Carolina Xi, was activated in 1978 by Dr. Howard Wilkinson, the 14th president of the college. The chapter’s faculty sponsor is Stuart Davidson, professor of mathematics and computer science.

Greensboro College provides a liberal arts education grounded in the traditions of the United Methodist Church and fosters the intellectual, social, and, spiritual development of all students while supporting their individual needs.

Founded in 1838 and located in downtown Greensboro, the college enrolls about 1,000 students from 29 states and territories, the District of Columbia, and seven foreign countries in its undergraduate liberal-arts program and four master’s degree programs. In addition to rigorous academics and a well-supported Honors program, the school features an 18-sport NCAA Division III athletic program and dozens of service and recreational opportunities.

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, Greensboro College class of 2019

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
