Greensboro College Business Analytics Team Wins “Next in Fintech Community Challenge”
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College is proud to announce the winning team for the inaugural Next in Fintech Community Challenge, hosted by Campus Greensboro. Team “Greensboro College Analytics” was the winner of the Cone Health challenge.
With 85 students involved, the inaugural Next in Fintech Community Challenge was held from October 12 – 19. The virtual, statewide event was open to all North Carolina college students of all levels and majors.
Students were tasked with solving real community challenges using FinTech (Financial Technology). Campus Greensboro partnered with Cone Health and Piedmont Business Capital to tackle real-world issues around COVID-19 relief and racial economic equity. Student teams chose from two community challenges: one related to healthcare and one related to economic relief, with a focus on racial equity.
Members of the winning team included Natalie Rosinski, Lexia Wingler, William Curry, and Richard Ansede.
Greensboro College entered at total of three teams for each challenge, and was the only school to have all teams place in the top five.
Members of the other two teams included Shaye Pinnix, Angeles Niles, Clayton Slater, and Ben Knuff who formed the “GC Ballistics” team and GC’s “Team Pride” included Connor Brown, Cristina Samano-Romo, and Zane Smith of Team “GC Pride”. Both teams were honored by the judges for placing in the top five for their challenges.
“I am so proud of our Analytics Team who participated in the FinTech community Challenge,” Greensboro College Department Chair of Business Administration and Associate Professor, Dr. Nasir Assar said. “They are an amazing group and worked hard to get here. I thank all those who made this event a reality.”

“I loved the GC Honors program and Greensboro College. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.”
