Residence Hall Directors

Residence Hall Director, West Hall

I am from Harrellsville, N.C., and graduated from Winston-Salem State University in 2019 with a degree in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration. During my time at Greensboro College, I plan to be a leader and also a resource for the student body. My job is to make sure that I am bridging the gap between faculty and students. My future plans are to become a sports agent and open up my own sports agency so that I can continue to be a mentor for professional athletes.

Residence Hall Director, Greensboro Hall

I am the Residence Hall Director of Greensboro Hall. I am an alumna of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I majored in sociology with a focus in criminology. I am interested in social justice and advocacy for all students and empowering them to be the best they can be while here at Greensboro College.

Residence Hall Director, Hill Hall

I am an alumna of Greensboro College and am originally from Baltimore, Md. For the past six years I have taught high-school English. I have a degree in English and Education and am currently working on my master's degree in English.

I am a Music Education major and a percussionist. I was born and raised in Winston-Salem, N.C. I enjoy music, video games, superheroes, and eating.

I’m from Mebane, N.C. I am a sophomore and a Health Science major. I play soccer and lacrosse.

Residence Advisor, Hill Hall 3rd Floor High and Head Hill Hall RA

I am originally from Waynesboro, Pa. I am a biology major with a minor in both chemistry and humanities. I am involved in the George Center for Honors Studies, Student Honors Organization, Student Government Association, the women's soccer and tennis teams, the peer tutoring program, and I am the Head Resident Advisor for Hill Hall this year.

I am a junior, the SGA president, and a member of the baseball team. My major is biology with a minor in chemistry. I am from Elizabethtown, N.C.

I am a sophomore from Monroe, N.C. I am currently undecided as to major but looking into Mass Communications and Business Administration. I am involved with three clubs on campus: NAMI, Delight, and United African American Society.

I am originally from Harrisonburg, Va., and moved to Greensboro my sophomore year at Greensboro College. I am a senior double-majoring in Art with a 2D Design focus and English & Communication Studies. I have been on the Dean’s List for the past four semesters, was Student Marshal for the 2018-19 school year, and was recently inducted in to the Sigma Tau Delta honor society in English.

I am a junior majoring in Birth-Kindergarten Education. I am from Long Island, N.Y., and play women's soccer.

I am a junior majoring in Music Education. I’m originally from Buffalo, N.Y., but currently reside in Norwood, N.C. On campus I am a Pride Leader, in the National Association for Music Educators, a Pride Guide, and a part of Phonathon.

I am from Lynchburg, Va. My major is Religion, Ethics & Philosophy, minors in Humanities, Communications, Art, and Business. Additionally, I am the president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Head Student Marshal, and I play football for GC.

I am a junior Theatre/Costume Design major. On campus I am the Chapter Life VP of Alpha Xi Delta, Secretary of United African American Society, a member of the Student Activities Board, and of Residence Life.

Residence Advisor, Hill Hall 2nd Floor High

I am a sophomore from High Point, N.C. I am majoring in Sport Management and plan on minoring in Humanities, Accounting, Sport Coaching, and Business. I am involved in men's soccer and the Honors program.

Residence Advisor, West Hall 1st Floor High

I am a junior Theatre/Acting major from Raleigh, N.C. I am a second-year West Hall Resident Advisor (RA) and the recipient of the 2018-2019 RA of the Year Award. I am heavily involved with the Theatre Department, Student Activities, and other various programs around campus.

I am from Swansea, S.C., and am a senior majoring in Exercise & Sport Studies with a minor in Health. I am involved with football and wrestling on campus.

I am from High Point, N.C. I am a criminal-justice major planning to pursue a career in law enforcement. In the fall I play football and in the spring I play tennis.

The office of Residence Life is a department within the division of Student Development. Residence Life employs 23 staff members, including a director, a coordinator, three live-in residence hall directors (RHDs), and 16 resident advisors (RAs).

On-Call Procedures

There will be three RAs and one RHD on duty every night. Duty hours are whenever the Residence Life office is closed, including weekdays after 5 p.m. and 24 hours during weekends, holidays or college closures.

Residence Hall Directors (RHDs)

The Residence Hall Director supports the mission of Residence Life by providing the necessary live-in administration for an assigned residence hall. The RHD’s main objective is to make the resources available to meet a resident’s needs of safety, education, and community, the three pillars of residence life. The RHD reports to the Director of Residence Life. RHDs reside in an apartment within their assigned residence hall. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate regular staff meetings with RAs.
  • Supervise RAs and conduct performance evaluations with individual RAs.
  • Participate in summer RA training and continual professional development throughout the year.
  • Participate in RA selection and RHD selection process.
  • Maintain visibility in residence hall and model appropriate behavior.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students.
  • Assist RAs in enforcing Greensboro College and Residence Life policies.
  • Monitor and manage conditions of assigned residence hall.
  • Coordinate scheduling of lounge usage.
  • Inspect residence hall on regular basis to identify maintenance/housekeeping concerns.
  • Maintain communication with housekeeping and maintenance.
  • Initiate work orders for repairs.
  • Prep building for opening.
  • Inspect building for closing.
  • Take appropriate action in times of emergency.
  • Counsel persons living in the area and make referrals when appropriate.

Residence Advisors (RAs)

Residence Advisor job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serving as a peer advisor, helper and counselor.
  • Enforcing college and residence hall policies and documenting violations.
  • Modeling appropriate community-living behaviors.
  • Planning and/or coordinating a prescribed number of programs for hall residents.
  • Maintaining on-duty hours and fulfilling specified responsibilities within the halls.
  • Assisting with administrative duties in the residence halls.
  • Performing other relevant duties as specified.

Residence Advisor Requirements

  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 12 hours).
  • Must have lived in the residence halls at least one semester prior to application and one year prior to employment.
  • RA requests for outside employment must be approved by an RA’s RHD.

Residence Advisor Remuneration

  • A private room in their assigned residence hall.
  • Half off a standard room fee.
  • A cash stipend of $200 per month.
  • A free parking permit.
  • Intensive training and lots of fun.
