  6. The method(s) used by Greensboro College to determine which students received Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. To determine eligible students, Greensboro College ran a report of students attending on-ground classes in March 2020 with valid FAFSAs on file for 2019-20. To calculate individual CARES Act Grants, the CARES Act Task Force committee evaluated college-related expenses caused by COVID-19. We then used the results of each eligible student’s 2019-20 FAFSA and the following categorizations of their expenses: food, housing/moving, technology, course materials, and healthcare. Students with the lowest Expected Family Contribution on the 2019-20 FAFSA received the highest initial grants. Once these initial grants were offered, Greensboro College opened an online emergency funds request to all eligible students.
  7. Additional information for students. As part of the CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief, eligible students were able to apply for emergency grant funds to help with expenses incurred by the disruption of normal campus operations due to COVID-19. Eligible expense categories included: food, housing, healthcare, technology, course materials, and childcare. The online application was opened on May 15th and was available on the college website with prior given to requests received by May 31st. All requested were reviewed and considered by our CARES Act Task Force.
