Catherine Gold (Cathy)

Cathy is an instructor in health sciences and kinesiology while pursuing her Doctorate of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Cathy has completed two master’s degrees: one in nursing and another in sport and exercise science, with a concentration in health and human performance. She holds numerous professional certifications including American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Personal Fitness Trainer certification and ia a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She also achieved Nutritional Therapy Practitioner certification through the Nutritional Therapy Association (NTA). She is an active member in ACSM, NSCA, and the NTA. As an entrepreneur, Cathy owns businesses that offer fitness training and nutritional counseling services to clients across the country. She is passionate about sharing the benefits of healthy lifestyle choices and its impact on overall wellbeing. Her experience in both healthcare and fitness settings bring a wide variety of opportunities into her classrooms. Both professional and personal influences led to her research interest in exploring the effect of nutrition and leisure time physical activity on mental health indicators in college students.

Joshua currently studies astrodynamics at Virginia Tech University and is an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. Candidate.
