Contract Admission Representative

JOB SUMMARY:

Greensboro College (NC) seeks an experienced admission professional or former school counselor to represent the College while living in New Jersey. Preference will be given to individuals living in central or northern New Jersey. The Special Consultant represents the College at high school private visits, and, on occasion, college fairs. The goal of the Special Consultant is to establish relationships with school counselors to help identify students most likely to be successful and graduate from Greensboro College.

This position is ideal for a retired or former admission professional or a former school counselor, not employed full-time and who has a flexible schedule. While most visits will take place during the fall, additional activities will take place in the spring.

The position is compensated on a per visit basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with the Associate Director and other admission staff:
    • Contact, schedule, represent and follow up with prospective students (interested in Greensboro College) at private visits and college day fairs.
    • Inform the Admission Office of prospective students who are interested in more information from the College.
    • Advise and counsel prospective students and families on the College’s processes and eligibility requirements for admission.
    • Meet with parents of current students as well as alumni.
    • Travel is required. Some night hours will be required.

The Special Consultant will not read admission applications and evaluate candidates for admission.

At the College’s expense, the College Admissions Recruiter will travel to Greensboro College (once) to tour the campus, meet with students and learn about the admissions process.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in a college admission or school counselor environment required
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (Docs, Sheets)
  • Ability to work independently with a clear understanding of priorities, deadlines and the overall goals of the College
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with counselors, students and parents
