Black Alumni Collective

The Black Alumni Collective is an affinity group that connects minority alumni to create a stronger multicultural alumni community. Created in 2023, BAC@GC provides opportunities for professional relationships, networking to help current seniors adjust to alumni life, and strengthens relationships between students and alumni of multicultural backgrounds. The group plans to offer financial assistance to multicultural student clubs and organizations, and a scholarship to encourage retention of multicultural students at GC.

Immediate plans are to kick off this group with an event during Homecoming 2023 on Saturday, September 23 [more details to come].

The BAC@GC president and two vice presidents also serve on the Greensboro College Alumni Association Board of Directors.

2023-24 BAC@GC Officers are:

  • Dr. James Hairston ’08, Interim President
  • Marlana Hawkins-Burch ’09, Vice President of Programming
  • Yasmine Regester ’08, Vice President of Communications

“I loved the GC Honors program and Greensboro College. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.”

- Joshua Fitzgerald, Class of ’19, Mathematics Major

Joshua currently studies astrodynamics at Virginia Tech University and is an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. Candidate.
