Greensboro College Wins 2023 Cans Across the Conference Competition

The USA South Athletic Conference’s 19th annual Cans Across The Conference food drive competition has concluded. Since classes began this fall until November 16th, USA South member institutions participated in the community service competition.

With a grand total of 4,204, Greensboro College is the Cans Across the Conference Champion for 2023. This is the third time Greensboro College has claimed victory in this competition (2005, 2007). Pfeiffer University collected 3,860 items to finish second while Brevard College’s 3,220 items rounded out the top-three.

During the food drive competition, each campus Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) collected cans and other non-perishable items to benefit a local charity of their choosing. The institution with the most items collected is crowned the Cans Across the Conference Champion.

Overall, the USA South institutions collected 18,242 items this fall, 3,946 more than a year ago. Over the 19-year history of the program, USA South Conference institutions have donated 635,770 items to various local organizations.

Individually, five institutions, consisting of Brevard, Greensboro College, Mary Baldwin, Meredith, and Methodist, improved on their collection amounts from a year ago. Additionally, of those schools, Brevard and Meredith set new single-year record for its institution.
