Greensboro College Chapter of Academic Honor Society Inducts Four New Members

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College’s chapter of the national cross-disciplinary honor society Alpha Chi has inducted four new members. They are:

  • Benedict Andrew Burgess, a senior theatre/acting and English major from Earlysville, Va.
  • Keeley O’Quinn Catarineau, a junior English & Communication Studies major from Tavernier, Fla.
  • Kathryn Marie Stevens, a junior criminal justice and psychology major from Boone, N.C.
  • Jordan Shea Welborn, a junior English education major from Climax, N.C.

Alpha Chi, founded in 1922, is open to seniors who rank in the top 10 percent of their class and juniors who rank in the top 5 percent of their class.

Greensboro College’s Alpha Chi chapter, designated North Carolina Xi, was activated in 1978 by Dr. Howard Wilkinson, the 14th president of the college. The chapter’s faculty sponsor is Stuart Davidson, professor of mathematics and computer science.

Greensboro College provides a liberal arts education grounded in the traditions of the United Methodist Church and fosters the intellectual, social, and, spiritual development of all students while supporting their individual needs.

Founded in 1838 and located in downtown Greensboro, the college enrolls about 1,000 students from 29 states and territories, the District of Columbia, and seven foreign countries in its undergraduate liberal-arts program and six master’s degree programs. In addition to rigorous academics and a well-supported Honors program, the school features a 17-sport NCAA Division III athletic program and dozens of service and recreational opportunities.
