African American Studies Minor

Understand history not just as it’s written, but as it’s lived. Greensboro College’s new African American Studies Minor invites students to explore the African American experience through multiple lenses — history, literature, music, and sociology — building a richer, more complete picture than any single discipline could offer on its own.

This interdisciplinary minor requires a minimum of 20 credit hours from approved coursework, giving students the flexibility to shape a course of study around their own interests while gaining a well-rounded foundation in African American history, culture, and social thought.

Course Requirements

Students pursuing this minor must complete the requirements linked below.

“I loved the GC Honors program and Greensboro College. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.”
