For over 15 years, he has been an adjunct professor in Mathematics at Greensboro College.  He earned an M.A. in Mathematics (with a concentration in Applied Statistics) from U.N.C. Greensboro in 2004 and a B.S. in Statistics and Mathematics Secondary Education from Appalachian State University in 1988. After receiving his B.S., he taught 3 years for Wilkes County Schools. He then worked 10 years as a Quality Assurance Technician and Six Sigma Engineer in the electrical wiring device industry. He then earned his master’s degree and immediately started at Greensboro College.

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
