Dr. Linda Padgett Hollandsworth 1969, Wilmington, has established a scholarship that will benefit women athletes at Costal Carolina University. The financial gift from Hollandsworth, distinguished professor emerita of English and journalism, will cover the cost of summer school tuition annually for a member of the women’s basketball team. To be eligible for the scholarship, recipients must display financial need, be in good academic standing and positively represent the women’s basketball program. Article.
Tonya Mauldin Cassidy 1997, Statesville, has headed The Arc of Southside for nearly seven years, took a step up to lead the state office, The Arc of Virginia, starting Jan.1. The group advocates for the rights and equal inclusion of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
