Greensboro College Music Department Presents Its 2018 Winter Concert Feb. 27

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College Department of Music presents its 2018 Winter Concert, featuring the college choirs and Wind Ensemble, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in Gail Brower Huggins Performance Center in Odell Building on campus.

Admission is free, and the public is invited.

The Chorale and Chamber Singers will be performing a variety of works including:

  • “Hallelujah” from “The Mount of Olives” by Beethoven
  • a rousing spiritual, “Nothin’ Gonna Stumble My Feet”
  • “I’ll Tell My Ma,” a setting of an Irish children’s song featuring body percussion,
  • a beautiful lullaby setting by Daniel Elder
  • an exciting setting of Psalm 100 by Rene Clausen
  • a setting of “The Lord is My Shepherd,” based on the third movement of Symphony No. 3 by Brahms.
  • a setting of a Japanese poem called “Hisakata No”
  • “Through the Dark,” with lyrics adapted from the writings of Helen Keller
  • a robust spiritual, “Daniel, Daniel, Servant of the Lord”

The Wind Ensemble will perform:

  • “El Relicario,” by Padilla and Longfield
  • “Fanfare,” by Dawson
  • “Shenandoah,” by Ticheli
  • “Brook Green Suite,” by Holst and Curnow
  • “Seventy-Six Trombones,” by Wilson and Jennings
