Greensboro College Honors More Than Two Dozen Students with Academic Prizes and Scholarships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College honored more than two dozen students during its annual Academic Awards Convocation April 22, presenting both subject and all-college awards.

The prizes and winners were:

  • Dr. and Mrs. S. Laws Parks Accounting Award: Kelvina Dorcas Dei-Tumi, a senior accounting major from Ludington, Mich.
  • Dr. and Mrs. S. Laws Parks Accounting Award: Manuel Roman Antunez, a senior accounting and Business Administration & Economics major from Hendersonville, N.C.
  • Dean’s Award for Most Outstanding Graduating Student in Accounting: Manuel Roman Antunez, a senior accounting and Business Administration & Economics major from Hendersonville N.C.
  • Dean’s Award for Most Outstanding Graduating Student in Accounting: Kelvina Dorcas Dei-Tumi, a senior accounting major from Ludington, Mich.
  • Clara Dougherty Brown Art Award: Alicia Marie Helms, a senior art major from Youngsville, N.C.
  • Regina Mouw Scholarship Award in Art: Alex Wilson Hedrick, an incoming freshman art education major from Winston-Salem, N.C.
  • Arnold Van Pelt Biology Award: Jessica Faye Edwards, a senior biology major from Winston-Salem, N.C.
  • Fred L. and Myrtle R. Proctor Endowed Business Scholarship Award: Sarah Elizabeth Bailey, a junior Business Administration & Economics major from Stokesdale, N.C.
  • Academic Achievement in Business Award: Kelsey Ann Emrich, a sophomore Business Administration & Economics from Sturbridge, Mass.
  • Dean’s Award for Most Outstanding Graduating Student in Business: Max Elliott Jenks-Gilbert, a senior Business Administration/Economics major from Colwyn Bay, Wales.
  • Zelda C. Pemberton Education Award: Lindsey Pope Blackwelder, a senior middle-grades math education major from Thomasville, N.C.
  • Leroy Lee Smith Memorial English Award: Keeley O’Quinn Catarineau, a sophomore English and Communication Studies major from Tavernier, Fla.
  • Mary L. Ginn Award for Excellence in English: Faith Marie Hood, a senior English & Communication Studies major from Kings Mountain, N.C.
  • Marvin L. Skaggs History Award: Stefania Robba, a senior history and political science major from Delran, N.J.
  • Mayo C. Harlow III Athletic Training Award: Hannah Leigh Clayton, a junior athletic training major from Willow Spring N.C.
  • Randy Hunt Exercise and Sport Studies Award: Wyatt Benjamin Bradley Vilaseca, a senior exercise and sport studies major from Guilford, Conn.
  • Willie Taylor Health and Physical Education Award: Alannah Nychol Haggerty, a senior health and physical education major from Raleigh, N.C.
  • Health Sciences Award: Kara Ann Whitson, a junior health sciences major from Winston-Salem, N.C.
  • Excellence in Mathematics Award: Joshua Taylor Fitzgerald, a junior mathematics major from Elon, N.C.
  • Luella Pugh Knott Music Award: Tesla Ann Chapman, a senior music major from Randleman, N.C.
  • Distinguished Psychology Student Award: Timothy Samuel Crowell, a sophomore psychology and English & Communication Studies major from Pinnacle, N.C.
  • David Caldwell “Log College” Scholarship: Abigail Elizabeth Bügger, a junior religion and art major from Cary, N.C.
  • Hardee Christian Service Award: Ronald Burrell Hinson II, a senior religion major from Greensboro, N.C.
  • Thelma Dixon Taylor Religion Scholarship: Alla Ahmed Alaghbri, a junior history and religion major from High Point N.C.
  • Distinguished Sociology Student Award: Shayla Denise Moss, a senior sociology major from Cary, N.C.
  • Isabelle Reedy Powell Sociology Merit Scholarship Award: Dorothy Elizabeth Medlin, a junior sociology, English & Communication Studies, and history major from Gastonia, N.C.
  • Alpha Chi Award for overall academic excellence: Kelvina Dorcas Dei-Tumi, a senior accounting major from Ludington, Mich.
  • Collegian Excellence Award in Journalism: Adelaide Leigh Elliott, a junior English & Communication Studies and history major from Walnut Cove, N.C.

Winners of music awards, who normally would have been recognized at this ceremony, were returning from a performance trip to New Orleans and so could not be present. They will be honored April 30 at the spring Jazz Ensemble concert.
