The U.S. Department of Education randomly selects approximately 30% of all FAFSAs for a review process called verification. Our office is required to verify that the information on the FAFSA is correct.
If your FAFSA is selected for verification by the U.S Department of Education, you will receive emails from Greensboro College and Verification Gateway with a link to Greensboro College’s Verification Gateway. We encourage you to begin the verification process within 7 days of receiving this notification to ensure you receive your financial aid in time for payments. Failure to complete the verification process could result in the delay or denial of your financial aid.
Greensboro College has a partnership with Inceptia to expedite the federal verification process. Verification Gateway (VG) from Inceptia is an online portal to guide students and parents through verification.
Follow these steps to complete your verification:
*If you are a dependent student, your parent also needs to create their own account and complete each of the steps above.
Once we have received a valid FAFSA from you, we will mail a financial aid offer package to your home address. If you have been selected for verification, your financial aid offer will be an estimation until you complete verification. You will be able to complete the verification process beginning on February 1, 2021. If your financial aid offer changes once you have completed the verification process, we will let you know and mail you a new, finalized offer.
You will be required to complete verification before we can put together your financial aid offer. If you have been selected previously, you and your parent (if applicable) will need to create new accounts at Greensboro College’s Verification Gateway.
If you have questions about how to complete tasks on your Task List, please contact Inceptia. You can call them Monday through Friday 9 am – 8 pm at 877-395-1050. You can also email Inceptia at [email protected].
