Documentary Screening: “We Carry Kevan”
September 18, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
The Department of English, Communication and Media Studies presents a screening of the documentary “We Carry Kevan,” about four young men who raised the funds necessary to build a custom-designed backpack to carry their friend, Kevan Chandler, who has spinal muscular atrophy, through Europe so that he might experience the world (in his words) “as it was meant to be seen- big, beautiful, and full of life.” The group is committed to exploring innovative and cooperative methods of enabling individuals with physical limitations to participate in activities and experiences beyond what others might believe possible.
Chandler will attend the screening, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, in Mane Stage at the Royce Reynolds Family Student Life Center.
One of the four men who participated was Phillip Keller ’16, who was named Outstanding Graduate Student that year.
