Commencement Ceremony for 2021 Graduates
Greensboro College will hold the 2021 Commencement Ceremony outdoors and in-person on front campus on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Consistent with the North Carolina COVID-19 guidelines for large outdoor gatherings, seating will be six feet apart and everyone will be required to wear a mask.
If the recently-loosened guidelines are still in effect, we will be able to provide two guest tickets for each graduate, which they will receive at rehearsal on Friday, May 7 (time to be announced). If local or state guidelines are tightened, it will alter our plans to be able to welcome guests.
The Baccalaureate ceremony traditionally held in Huggins Performance Center in Odell Memorial Building on Friday evening will be offered virtually due to safety restrictions on indoor gatherings.
Accordingly, in the case of inclement weather or if new restrictions on outdoor gatherings prevent our planned in-person event, graduates will pick up diplomas on Saturday, May 8 between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The commencement committee is planning details for several different scenarios which will be available on the commencement webpage as details become available.
This year’s commencement ceremony is for 2021 graduates only.
We remain committed to celebrating graduates by offering an on-campus, in-person ceremony, while following all local, state and national guidelines for gathering limitations and distancing.
Please watch for further communication as plans are more fully developed.
