An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until November 15, 2019
The Anne Rudd Galyon Gallery is pleased to present the work of James Brooks III, Oct. 7-Nov 15. Regular gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. A closing reception will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, in the gallery. The exhibit and reception are free, and the public is welcome.
Brooks, with both academic and self-taught skills, makes large, extremely active, and brightly-colored images of pop icons as well as many engaged with religiously-tinged settings and iconography. He also has new work with a social commentary edge, which he is excited to share. His social-political work includes sneak appearances of famous figures, joined across time. He writes and recites his own performance-art poetry to accompany the reception, assisted by a live string instrumentalist.
Ann Mahoney of “The Walking Dead” will hold a public Q&A, 6 p.m. tonight in Gail Brower Huggins Performance Center in Odell Building. It’s free, and you can buy autographed copies of her book on acting!
