Spring Semester 2013 Check-in/Move-in Info

PLEASE NOTE: ANY STUDENT MOVING IN, PARTICIPATING IN A TEAM PRACTICE OR ATTENDING CLASS MUST BE CLEARED FIRST!

Check-in Times and Dates (all in Odell lobby)

  • New Traditional Students: 9-11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7

  • Returning Traditional and Adult Students & New Adult Students: 1-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7

  • Returning Traditional & Adult Students: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8.

All students must check in for spring semester. Please be sure to check in on the correct date and during the correct time for your status. We prepare each check-in time very specifically for each group’s unique needs. We appreciate your understanding in this matter and assure you that this will make each individual’s check-in process smoother.

To be cleared a student must:

  1. Complete all necessary Financial Aid paperwork.
  2. Pay his/her balance or provide a method of paying his/her balance.
  3. Accept or decline medical insurance provided by United Healthcare (see the homepage at www.greensboro.edu for a link to the necessary pages).
  4. Must have a COMPLETE immunization record and medical history (new students).
  5. Returning students are strongly encouraged to work in advance to be cleared. ID cards will be re-activated for spring semester when students have cleared check-in.

What happens when I arrive?
Residential Students
Park in the lot behind the Greensboro College Welcome Center (Admissions building), located on College Place, off West Market Street. Campus security officers will assist you in parking. You do not need to unload your car for move-in at this point.  Proceed to the welcome area located in the lobby of Odell Building.

Commuters
Park in the lot behind the Greensboro College Welcome Center, located on College Place. Campus security officers will assist you in parking. Proceed to the lobby of Odell Building.

When can I move in? 
Once you are "clear" through the check-in process, you will be free to move into your residence hall. Please be patient as this process can take some time depending on information from Student Accounts and Financial Aid. It is recommended that you call these offices before coming to move in to make sure they have your submitted materials. They can be reached at 336-272-7102, ext. 217 or ext. 205. It is preferable to sign all necessary forms and pay all bills prior to your arrival.

I can't come on my check-in date. What do I do?
Students who arrive on their check-in date will have the smoothest transition to the college. If you cannot arrive on that day, call Ilona Owens, Dean of Students at (336) 272-7102, ext. 406. A Late Arrival Plan is in place to assist you through the process. It is preferable to be here on your assigned check-in date.

Is it required that families of new students attend a family orientation? 
No, but it is a great opportunity for your family to learn more about Greensboro College.

What if I have paid my bill, completed the Monthly Payment Plan and/or filed for all financial aid?
You will be asked to stop at the check-in tables in Odell Lobby and then be presented a CLEAR card at the check-in table on your arrival day that will allow you to move in immediately. You will also be cleared to register for classes.If you still have financial obligations upon arrival, you will need to visit the appropriate office(s) before moving in orregistering for classes. The process is designed to go as smoothly as possible but may require a wait depending onyour circumstances. It is preferable to sign all necessary forms and pay all bills prior to your arrival.

What if I am a commuter student?
Commuter students must still check in. Please arrive on your scheduled check-in day.  New, traditional commuter students are expected to participate in the Précis Orientation program. Please arrive on your scheduled check-in date.
